A bird sits on the next bough(주줄기), life-everlasting(불멸의 잡초) grows under the table, and blackberry vines run round its legs(블랙베리의 덜쿨이 책상 다리를 휘감고); pine cones, chestnut burs, and strawberry leaves are strewn(흩뿌려지다) about.
It looked as if this was the way these forms came to be transferred to our furniture, to tables, chairs, and bedsteads,—because they once stood in their midst. (자연속의 가구가 잘 어울리는 것은 원래 거기에서 왔기때문)
My house was on the side of a hill(내 집은 언덕 옆에 있었다), immediately on the edge of the larger wood(커다란 숲의 바로 옆), in the midst of a young forest of pitch pines and hickories(히코리와 리기다 소나무 숲의 한가운데), and half a dozen rods from the pond, to which a narrow footpath(좁은 오솔길) led down the hill(언덕 아래로 이끄는/뻗은).
In my front yard(내집 앞마당에) grew(/온갖 것들이/자란다.[도치문]) the strawberry, blackberry, and life-everlasting(불멸의 식물/잡초), johnswort and golden-rod(미역취), shruboaks(졸참나무?) and sand-cherry(모래 벗나무), blueberry and ground-nut(땅콩류).
Near the end of May(5월 말이 되면), the sand-cherry(모래 벗나무), (Cerasus pumila,) adorned(장식한다) the sides of the path(길 양옆을) with its delicate flowers(우아한 꽃들로) arranged in umbels(우산 모양으로 꽃들이 펼쳐짐 모양) cylindrically about its short stems(짧은 줄기에 우아한 꽃들이 다닥다닥 핀 모습/벗꽃을 그려보자), which last, in the fall(가을이 되면), weighed down(무게에 늘어지다) with good sized(적당한크기로) and handsome cherries(잘생긴/먹음직 스런 체리열매), fell over in wreaths(화환) like rays on every side (길 양옆으로 화환에 빛줄기처럼 늘어진 체리열매들).
I tasted(맛을 보았다) them out of compliment to Nature(자연의 찬사/경이로 여기고), though they were scarcely palatable(맛있다고 할 수 없지만).
The sumach, (Rhus glabra,) grew luxuriantly about the house, pushing up through the embankment(두덕을 밀고 올라오는 옻나무) which I had made(그 두덕은 내가 만든것), and growing five or six feet(5에서 6피트까지 자랏다) the first season(첫 시즌/시골에 적착한 첫해[시간을 나타낸 부사구]).
Its broad(넓은) pinnate(깃 모양) tropical leaf(열대 식물의 잎) was pleasant(괜찮았다) though strange to look on(보기가 좀 그렇지만).
The large buds(커다란 꽃봉오리가), suddenly pushing out(걉쟈기 피어나온) late in the spring(늦봄에) from dry sticks(마른 막대기/줄기에서) which had seemed to be dead(죽은 것 같아 보였던), developed themselves as by magic into graceful green and tender boughs, an inch in diameter;....
죽은 가지처럼 보이는 줄기에서 커다란 꽃 봉오리가 늦봄에 갑자이 돋아 나오면 마술 같이 그 가지는 우아한 녹색을 띈 부드러운 두께가 일인치는 되는 줄기로 성장한다.
