오랜동안 어떤 것(가구)도 안가진 것 같아보이는 사람들 조차(Even) 좀더 자세히 찾아보면 누군가의 창고에 조금이라도 쟁여놓은 것을 찾을 것이다.

It would surpass the powers of a well man nowadays to take up his bed and walk, and I should certainly advise a sick one to lay down his bed and run.
침대를 지고 걷는 것은 요즘 건장한 사람(well man)의 힘에도 부친다. 나는 분명히 병든 사람에게 침대는 내려놓고 뛰라고 권고한다.

하지만 어쩌면(perchance, 우연히) 그속에(덧 안에) 한 발(paw, 동물의 손발)을 절대 들여놓지 않는 것이 가장 현명할 것이다.

덧붙여, 나는 창 가리개에 돈을 쓰지 않았다는 것을 언급해야 겠다. 나는 태양과 달을 빼면 차단해야할 구경꾼이 없기 때문이다. 그리고 그들(해와 달)이라면 기꺼이 들여다 보라고 두겠다.

As usual, a great proportion was trumpery which had begun to accumulate in his father’s day.
